Setting Your 选择的名字 in MyBGSU and o的r technology infrastructure: 

10月18日起生效, 2021, 的 first phase of 的 选择的名字 policy changes began implementation.  We acknowledge that this is a major multi-system project and 的 technical upgrades and implementation will require at least two phases and will likely identify unanticipated infrastructure issues as 的 project progresses.  Please pay particular attention 到 locations and communications which will now pull 选择, ra的r than legal name as you make 你的 decision as to whe的r designating a 选择 name is 的 best choice for you at this time.  Currently, 选择 names will appear 在 following locations and communications:

  • 电子邮件
  • 班表和年级表
  • 居住生活交流
  • BG1 cards (if a person purchases a new card, legal name will still be displayed on 的 back)
  • 餐饮服务
  • 学生娱乐中心
  • 导航应用
  • University mail sent to 你的 campus or permanent address

Additional systems will be added as part of a second phase of system up日期s.

登录 到 MyBGSU 门户网站.
Select 学生中心.
Select 配置文件.
从 个人信息 屏幕中,选择 的 加号(+)) 下 的名字.
If you already have a 选择的名字, you can 编辑 名字由 选择 的 选定名称行.
Select 选择 从 类型 下拉菜单. 
输入 你的 选择的名字 如你所愿. 
Select 保存.
一旦你创建了 选择的名字，更改应更新 整个系统 24小时内. 
If you need financial support in order to reprint 你的 BG1 card with 你的 选择 name (legal name will still be displayed on 的 back of 的 card), 请填写 这种形式.
  • 的 彩虹基金 has some availability to assist LGBTQ+ students with financial needs, including BG1 card replacement  depending on fund availability.  Because this funding is reliant on donations and grant or o的r funding, we cannot fund all possible needs and are limited 在 amount we can offer individual students.  If you would like to support our students by making a donation to this important fund, we thank you - please make 你的 donation 在这里.

选择的名字 and Personal Pronoun Information

  • Some members of our BGSU community may use 选择 names, which are names o的r than 的ir legal names.  Often, 选择 names more accurately reflect a person's identity.
  • Your appropriate use of a person's 选择 name aligns with BGSU's aim to cultivate an environment w在这里 all members of our community are affirmed and feel a sense of belonging.
  • Use 选择 names w在这里ver possible (e.g.(对话、电子邮件).  有时, someone might ask that you use 的ir 选择 name only in specific settings - be sure to honor that.
  • 类似的, 你的 appropriate use of someone's personal pronouns aligns with BGSU's inclusion and belonging efforts.
  • If you make a mistake, correct 你的 mistake as quickly as possible.
